This interview and the artist are nice and all, and I don’t mean to be a hater, I just subscribed to this substack specifically to hear about artists that live and work in latam. Every other page is basically only artists that work in New York and London and like that’s great for them, I would just like to hear from artists that aren’t working in the us or uk.
Like truly no hate towards studio lenca. But as an artist that was born somewhere “irrelevant” (Estonia) and is living somewhere “irrelevant” (Argentina) both these places are full of truly incredible artists that nobody talks about. And so often they are only talked about if they made it out to be somewhere “relevant” like US, UK maybe Paris. It’s super disheartening :(
Thank you so much for your message! We completely understand your point of view, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to share it with us.
We’re also very glad to tell you that we have a series of wonderful artist interviews coming up, featuring artists working from Peru, Venezuela, Uruguay, and Guatemala, which we think you’ll really enjoy.
And if you ever have any recommendations, please feel free to send them to contact@artinlatam.com. We’re always happy to hear from you.
